Digital X-ray is a quick and safe way to produce clear diagnostic images. At Sydney Imaging Specialists, we use modern equipment and careful imaging techniques to keep radiation exposure as low as possible, while ensuring your scan is accurate and comfortable. Remember to bring your referral, Medicare and Pension/Health Care cards and any previous imaging relating to the region being scanned. If you do not have films, please advise us of the name of your previous imaging provider, so that we may attempt to access them electronically.
You are not required to bring previous imaging if it has been performed at Sydney Imaging Specialists.
You may be asked to change into a gown and remove jewellery, as some objects can obstruct the area of interest.
Depending on which area you are having examined, you may be asked to lie on a table, sit or stand. You must keep still for a short period of time, and may be given breathing instructions.
Although most x-ray examinations will be completed in under 15 minutes, we recommend that you allow an hour for your visit to us.
When you register with Sydney Imaging Specialists, you will be invited to access our patient app, where you can securely view your images and reports. Your images are usually available around one hour after your scan, with the report following once finalised by our specialist. Your referring doctor receives results directly, and we recommend discussing them together. To download the app, visit your app store and select SIS Patient.
